Seraphinite Sterling Silver Wire-Wrapped Pendant
Scrolls of sterling silver wire cascade down the front of this one-of-a-kind seraphinite pendant necklace.
The genuine seraphinite gemstone featured in this necklace is a remarkable designer cabochon cut by lapidarist Ed Orekar of Stones in Motion. Seraphinite is a beautiful silver green gemstone, exhibiting a pattern of radiating blades across its surface. This stone has an eye-catching curved triangular shape.
I created this pendant by crafting a sterling silver frame around the seraphinite cabochon in sterling silver wire and forming loops of sterling silver wire down the front of the pendant. I added five sterling silver beads across the top of the pendant as accents.
Seraphinite is a variety of the mineral clinochlore, which belongs to the chlorite mineral group. The name seraphinite comes from the Greek word “seraphim” – celestial being with three pairs of wings. This could be due to the silvery feather-like chatoyant fibers that can be seen in seraphinite.
